Snap Inc. is the technology and social media company in charge of connecting social circles through meaningful interactions and features, such as Snapchat and Bitmoji.
‍
Snap Inc. has worked to build sites supporting the launch of new technologies and features, finding new ways to bolster the brand’s design system and web infrastructure along the way.
‍
‍
My role was to lead evaluation of Snap's talent gaps and needs, their organizational structure, and design their web platforms.
‍
We identified a number of ways to improve Snap’s design system, linking Figma and CMS components in a way that would make the whole system cleaner and more cohesive. It wasn’t work we’d been explicitly asked to do, but we knew it would dramatically speed up site builds and make Snap’s online experience more consistent. That work has since become a part of our remit, alongside storytelling architecture, competitive audits, wireframing, and technical design documentation.

Unexpected issues and flaws with the new CMS went through extensive pressure testing and documentation. This ensured all design concerns can be catalogued for future iterations through an ongoing Kanban system with Snap.

As our engagement with Snap evolved over time, so did our Team strategy and approach. We rearranged roles across regions to cover more time zones and get more work done over fewer days. We fine-tuned the design of the Team to better match Snap’s evolving needs. And we tailored our work more specifically to Snap so that we were delivering value and setting up projects in line with how Snap functions. When projects required expertise less related to ongoing Platform Management, like video production, we supplemented our Team with trusted talent from our partner network, managing their work as if it were our own.
‍
All of this has allowed us to take on increasingly more complex and high-profile projects that have received praise from Snap’s leadership.
‍
I Designed and iterated on new additional landing pages for Trust and Safety, integrating new content changes and adjustments to meet alignment across various internal stakeholders across Snap Inc.
‍
In addition, previously existing pages were redesigned to new CMSÂ standards based on the old and new component libraries. All old-to-new CMSÂ pages were guided through templatization of key pages based on the component libraries to cover further implementation of CMS pages that did not receive a complete redesign treatment.
‍
The testing was successful, as I oversaw the implementation of content migration to the new designs developed as well as the new CMS. Following final hand off, I regularly connected with the development team to troubleshoot technology limitations and enact changes rapidly to ensure a smooth implementation.
‍
We improved conversion rates, expanded Snap’s marketing capabilities, enhanced brand consistency, and secured stakeholder buy-in. But just as importantly, we’ve built trust and the makings of a long-term partnership. More than just delivering good work, our Team invested in Snap’s ability to continue to grow sustainably.
